Whipped Body Lotion!

Stop the Presses!!!!!

This morning I blogged about Whipped Body Butter (click here for that recipe)...the recipe that I made last night.  This was definitely a butter like consistancy.  It felt a little more greasy, but it worked.  I still love it, but not as much as I love the Whipped Body Lotion that I made for my Sister and I today.  She has been a lot like me and has used the Salves, with the coconut oil and beeswax she loved them and wanted to make a bunch of small jars for her to add essential oils as needed.  I convinced her to wait until she tried the Whipped that I was making today.  SHE IS HOOKED!

This recipe takes out the Cocoa Butter and adds more Shea Butter.  This soaks into the skin a lot faster and doesn't leave quite the greasy feeling that the Whipped Body Butter does.   I like both, but for every day use, I will use the Whipped Body Lotion.

Without further ado, here is your recipe!

Whipped body Butter

1/2 Cup of Coconut Oil (Click Here for the Coconut Oil of my choice)

1 Cup of Shea Butter

1/2 Cup Sweet Almond Oil or other liquid carrier oil.  I like to use part Almond & Part Kukui.

1 tsp of Vitamin E Oil (acts as a preservative)

Melt down your coconut oil, cocoa butter and shea butter until completely melted.  I do this in a glass bowl put in a steamer so it is not on direct heat.  Set your heat to low until it all melts down...I stir once in a while with a bamboo skewer.

Take off the heat and let it cool down for about 10-15 minutes on the counter.  Then add in your almond oil and vitamin E oil.  DO NOT add your essential oil in at that point.  When you add your essential oils while your other oils are still warm, they will evaporate and you will not have as good of a smelling butter.

Cover your bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and place in the fridge for one to two hours or you can put it in the freezer for about 1/2 an hour.  You want it to just start firming up around the edges, but you don't want it too firm.

Take out of the fridge and use either a stand mixer or a hand mixer starting on low then slowly increasing the speed.  This will take about 4 minutes of whipping before you will start seeing the consistency you want.  Be patient, just when you think it is not working, it will be a creamy goodness!

You can now either split it up into several small jars or one big jar.   Then you can add your essential oil blends.  This recipe made about 7 4oz Jars and a few 3oz Jars.

You now have unscented Whipped Body Lotion. Once you decide what Essential oils you want to use, you can add them into your small jars.   You can Click Here for some blend ideas.

One of the blends that is not on the other blog has become a favorite in our house.

Blend in a blending bottle the following essential oils.  My husband is the one that has named this blend.

SUMMER BREEZE

20 drops of Jasmine

10 drops of Sweet Wild Orange or Mandarin.

Pour your blend into your Whipped Body Lotion and carefully fold in, making sure it gets fully incorporated.

Jasmine is great for depression and anxiety, but is also good for the skin.

Sweet Wild Orange is very uplifting as well as Mandarin.

I am keeping this blend at my office desk for during the day when I need a little pick me up!

Enjoy!

Have a Happy & Healthy Day!

Lisa
